Job description - IT Project Manager
Job Profile
A project manager is responsible for planning and overseeing projects within an organization, from
the initial ideation through to completion. They coordinate people and processes to deliver projects
on time, within budget, and with the desired outcomes aligned to objectives and keep
stakeholders informed the entire way. You will be the go-to person for everything involving a
project’s organization and timeline.
Project managers also act as a point of liaison between the project team and senior management.
They use scalable project management tools to plan, monitor, and regularly report to
stakeholders on the progress of the project.
A key part of a project manager's role is to identify and mitigate risks that may impact the
successful delivery of projects.
Responsibilities for Project Manager
• Developing project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring
technical feasibility
• Predict resources needed to reach objectives and manage resources in an effective and
efficient manner
• Prepare a budget based on the scope of work and resource requirements. Track project
costs in order to meet budget
• Preparing a detailed project plan to schedule key project milestones, workstreams &
activities.
• Managing delivery of the project according to this plan.
• Tracking projects and providing regular reports on project status to the project team and
key stakeholders.
• Managing and adjusting for any changes in project scope, schedule, and/or budget.
• Identifying and mitigating potential risks.
• Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule,
and costs
• Manage contracts with vendors and suppliers by assigning tasks and communicating
expected deliverables
• Utilize industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout the entire project
execution
• Monitor progress and make adjustments as needed
• Measure project performance to identify areas for improvement using appropriate systems,
tools, and techniques.
• Report and escalate to management as needed
• Manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders.
• Perform risk management to minimize project risks.
• Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
Qualifications for Project Manager
• Bachelor's/master’s degree in computer science, Business, or a related field.
• 2-4 years of project management and related experience.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
• Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best
practices.
• Experience seeing projects through the full life cycle.
• Excellent analytical skills.
Requirements
• Be a good team player and an effective leader who is able to motivate their project team.
• Proven working experience as a project administrator in the information technology sector
• Solid technical background, with understanding or hands-on experience in software
development, app development, and web technologies.
• Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
• Good time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple tasks at once.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• PMP / PRINCE II certification is a plus
